Image Interpreter
Description
Participants present a photo that represents their experience or attitude toward the program topic. This warmer can be turned into a competitive game.
Why we like it
Photos add color (literally) to virtual programs. Participants use creativity, personality, and experiences when sharing their photos and interpretation. Good for a quick warmer or longer competitive game.
Process
1. Give participants a pool of photos or website photo collection. (See External Links below)
2. Participants save or identify the photo that represents their attitude, experiences, or thoughts about the program topic. For example, “Which image best depicts your views on negotiation?”
3. During icebreaking activities, participants discuss the photo they chose and interpret the image as it relates to the program topic.
Daisy chain options
a) Instructor or participants can include the presented images in ongoing program or profile resources.
b) Concepts presented (such as goals, challenges, and experiences) can be used in program modules and Q&A sessions.
c) Images could be designed, chosen, or arranged to fit slide design skills and receive facilitator feedback.
Variations
a) Participants could create their own image using art or personal photography.
b) If photos are submitted anonymously, groups that know each other could compete by trying to identify which participant submitted which card. Points are awarded for correct answers.
c) This activity was inspired by the game Dixit which has an app for both iOS and Android. Note that participants would need the app to play the original version together, and the rules of original version would still need to be modified to stay relevant to program content.
