Description

Participants are paired pre-session and interview their partner. They then deliver their findings during live session introductions.

Why we like it

This alternative to personal live introductions gets participants mingling before the session and is a change to usual personal introduction processes.

Process

1. Give participants a list of possible interview questions as well as parameters for their live partner introduction.
2. Pair up participants. Consider pairing people who don’t know each other or providing questions that might reveal new information.
3. Participants interview each other before the session (in-person, phone, video conference, email, etc.).
4. Interviewers deliver their findings during the live session.

Daisy chain options

a) In communication or presentation programs, the live report could serve as the benchmark presentation. Consider giving other evaluation criteria in advance with this option. Consider recording the live presentations.
b) Allow interviewees to add information and clarify any information.
c) Allow live participants to ask follow up questions or find similarities among other participants (ex. “Who else works in accounting?”).

Variations

Interviews could be conducted during the live session in breakout rooms.
