Breakout 4

Try it on: Delegate

  • Reason: Why does it matter?

  • Resources: What is needed: skills (interpersonal & technical), resources, authority? What other info do they need?

  • Reinforcement: What support can you provide?

  • Results: When and what do you expect? Are there checkpoints along the way?

  • Reaffirm: Ask a few direct questions to check comfort & understanding.

  • Feedback: How did they do? What can you change? What questions do you still have?

Breakout 5

Please discuss with your partners:

  • When should we/when should we not give feedback?

  • What is the best feedback you ever received or gave? Why?

  • How often do you give feedback?

  • What is your balance of positive vs developmental feedback?

  • What questions/challenges do you have?

Breakout 6

Please discuss with your partners:

  • How can we give good/useful feedback?

  • What are some of the mistakes to avoid?

Breakout 7

Try it on: Feedback

  • No Sandwich, but ok to start positive/relation oriented.

  • Start by asking questions (sometimes): how do they see it?

  • Seek permission to share (maybe)

  • Describe the behavior that you want to reinforce or correct. Stick to facts (descriptive), not judgements (evaluative— rude/bad)

  • Explain the impact of the behavior for them, the audience (if any) & the team. Avoid self serving.

  • Outline feed forward actions. Keep it positive.

  • Check their understanding

  • Feedback: How do they did? What can you change? What questions do you still have?
